The nuclear industry presents a set of unique challenges to pipeline inspection companies. The pipes to be inspected are not only required to operate under various levels of radiation, but most pipe systems present extremely tight bends and elbows, significant changes in pipe diameter and schedule and present numerous other restrictions that prohibit the use of conventional inspection methods.
DPT has developed a range of crawlers and D-Flex specialised umbilicals that have been successfully deployed in live nuclear installations in the UK.
